Who Qualifies for Free Job Training in San Diego?

You might be wondering: If these courses are free, then what's the catch? The honest answer is--- there really isn't one. San Diego faces growing energy demands and increasing pressure on the power grid. Efficient technologies like heat pump water heaters and modern building systems play a major role in reducing strain on the grid, lowering energy costs and making our communities more resilient to power outages, Because the region urgently needs more trained technicians in these fields, we've secured funding to cover the cost of workforce training for San Diego County residents.

This funding allows us to offer all on-demand courses and live webinars completely free, with no eligibility requirements at all.

However, to qualify for free certificate sponsorships, the programs where we pay for your exam costs, learners must live in San Diego County and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • History of unemployment

  • Custodial single parent

  • Household income below 50% of Area Median Income

  • Formerly incarcerated

  • Graduate of the foster-care system

  • Resident of a designated zip code

These programs are designed to reduce barriers and help residents access stable, well-paying jobs in high-growth technical trades fields.
